Several Nickelodeon series from the past two-plus decades are heading to modern consoles, with help from THQ Nordic. The companies have partnered to bring back a number of games from the Nickelodeon catalog starting later this year, THQ Nordic announced.

THQ Nordic hasn’t revealed which specific games it plans on remastering or re-releasing, instead naming the franchises that it plans to revive. On the list are some obvious choices — SpongeBob SquarePants, Fairly OddParents, Avatar: The Last Airbender — as well as a few surprising picks. Although fans of a certain age may remember cartoons like Back at the Barnyard and Catscratch, neither one is likely to inspire much nostalgia.

Here’s the full list of Nickelodeon series whose games the company plans to re-release:

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • Back at the Barnyard
  • Catscratch
  • Danny Phantom
  • El Tigre
  • Invader Zim
  • Jimmy Neutron
  • My Life as a Teenage Robot
  • Rocket Power
  • Rocko’s Modern Life
  • Rugrats
  • SpongeBob SquarePants
  • Tak and the Power of JuJu
  • The Fairly OddParents (US only)
  • The Ren & Stimpy Show
  • The Wild Thornberrys

Regardless, THQ Nordic and Nickelodeon’s partnership is meant to speak to one of the games publisher’s stated goals: ensuring that older properties are able to find a new life with modern audiences. THQ Nordic has previously revived and remastered games like Darksiders, and has announced plans to do the same with the PlayStation 2-era game Destroy All Humans!

THQ Nordic also has a history with Nickelodeon: The original THQ Inc. held the Nickelodeon license prior to its liquidation in 2013. Nordic Games later bought THQ in 2014, a year after the company declared bankruptcy.

It’s unclear when we’ll see Tak and the Power of JuJu (a rare Nickelodeon property that started life as a video game), SpongeBob’s various games and the rest of the series back on shelves, but THQ Nordic plans to reveal more “in the coming months.”

SpongeBob SquarePants. Today, we are observing a moment of silence to honor his life and work.'

He graduated from Northern California's Humboldt State University in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in natural resource planning and interpretation, with an emphasis on marine resources. He would become a marine biology teacher in Southern California and eventually blend his interests in marine life with his creative talents to write and illustrate stories and characters. At first, these were used as tools for the classroom. They would later morph into Bikini Bottom, the home of his famous SpongeBob and lead to a career in animation beginning in 1987. That same year he won an award for Best Animated Concept at the Ottawa International Animation Festival for his animated short Wormholes. This led him to pursue work in television as a director and writer on Nickelodeon’s series Rocko’s Modern Life and Rugrats starting in 1993and then his work writing, producing and directing SpongeBob SquarePants. The hit cartoon premiered May 1999 and has aired an approximate 250 episodes in nearly 20 years on the air and was subtitled in over 60 languages. The series won multiple awards, including the U.S. and British Emmy Awards.

Though he was nominated for eight Emmys, he never won. He did, however, receive a standing ovation at the February Annie Awards in Los Angeles when Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob, accepted the Winsor McCay animation award on his behalf.

Since its debut, SpongeBob SquarePants received widespread critical acclaim, in large part due to its appeal to all ages. The series received several nominations and won a variety of accolades including the above-mentioned Annie Awards (17 nominations, six wins), 17 Golden Reel Awards (17 nominations, eight wins), Emmy Awards (18 nominations, four wins), Kids' Choice Awards (15 nominations, 14 wins), BAFTA Children's Awards (five nominations, two wins), Television Critics Association Awards (three nominations, one win) and Producers Guild of America Awards (two nominations).

In addition, he wrote, produced and directed the 2004 The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, which grossed over $140 million worldwide. He followed up with the 2015 sequel, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. In addition to a hit series and two movies, SpongeBob also went to Broadway with the Tony-winning SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical, which wrapped 327 shows in September.
