The HPE customized image for VMware vSphere is based on the standard VMware vSphere ISO. It is the easiest and most reliable way to install VMware vSphere on HPE ProLiant servers. The HPE custom images for VMware vSphere includes all of the required drivers to run VMware vSphere on HPE ProLiant servers. Management software is installed to enable robust server management and works seamlessly with Intelligent Provisioning. The new ProLiant Gen9 and Gen10 servers require the use of the HPE customized image for a successful installation. The drivers for the new network and storage controllers in the Gen9 and Gen10 servers are integrated in the HPE customized image and are not part of the generic VMware vSphere image that is distributed by VMware. VMware vSphere requires drivers for these controllers to be integrated as you are not able to insert them during installation.
